Repurposing, Part 2

This post is entitled “Repurposing” because I’ve dug up some photos I posted a long time ago and added Covid-pertinent commentary. (It’s “Part 2” because I did the same thing last week.) Before I begin, though, I offer sincere gratitude to the heroes who leave home each day to tend to the sick, staff the markets, deliver the packages, and keep the city running.

Now, to those of us who have the privilege of protecting ourselves by sheltering in place: How many weeks has it been? I’ve lost count, which is why it’s been long enough to need this:

Check all that apply: (a) grumpy (b) annoyed (c) exasperated (d) nuclear meltdown imminent

Self-checked? Now select a remedy. For the grumpy:

Caution: Avoid serving to significant others. May be habit-forming.

Annoyed at your isolate-mates? Try this:

A little blurry — like most of us these days.

No matter how much your offspring are getting on your nerves, don’t give in to this:

Unless of course the arrow points to “silent treatment rooms.”

As for me, I’m grateful to be safe and fervently hoping you are safe as well.

    Love your repurposing!

Nowadays, I just get lost on Facebook, or on Quora.com, reading funny or educational questions-and-answers. While I’m doing that, boyfriend John is doing something on his own computer or maybe he’s out grocery shopping. (It’s better if I don’t go too, since they prefer no one over 70 in the store; also, they prefer only one person per household.)

We were out for nice walk yesterday, though.

    Sigh… Sure is a different world…

Different, indeed. A friend died this afternoon. He was about to become a grandfather. And I can’t even hug his wife or kids. I keep hoping this will make us value each other more, that we will treasure each other more. Not likely, but I will continue to hope for that. Stay safe, Ellie!

OMG I am so so sorry! How awful for you, for them… A horrible situation, a terrible time! I hope as you say that we’ll appreciate each other more! Take care Gerri. 💙

Speaking of a different world (I always read the replies, too), my girlfriend very often strikes up a conversation with me about how different the world and peolple will be after all this situation is over.
She’s very optimistic about a world with “better, truer humans”. I’m not. Not too much. But she’s been trying to change my mind.

    Be well! Stay safe!

Thanks for reminding me that people, collectively, have the power to make the world better by being “better, truer humans.” I tend toward pessimism, but I hope to be wrong. Stay safe!
